Work has concentrated on the lower deck. Some repair work has been carried out along with a lot of cleaning down
of old paintwork. The brake columns and other metal parts have been removed and will eventually go for shot blasting.
The damaged veneer panels are currently with a specialist repairer.

By now 488 had been stripped as far as possible. Whilst there is inevitably some rot, it is remarkable that
the actual teak frame appears in sound condition. The pictures include when 488 when was raised up on
jacks for the underside to be examined etc and the last picture shows "scaffolding"
around the tram to permit access and safe working to the upper deck flooring.
A visit to Crich was undertaken some time ago to compare note with "sister" tram 812 and details of paint
specs - particularly internal scheme [known in Glasgow as "treacle"] were noted.
If other Boston Lodge work is anything to go by then Glasgow 488 should be superbly restored when complete and
prove quite a "star" at Carlton Colville.
