Restoration Progress to July 2015

Fleet Number Restoration progress on 488 has now stepped up a pace and these pictures show just how far the project has advanced with the bottom deck close to completion. It is varnished and only needs the fitting of the decorative boarding above the windows; that boarding is pictured on the bench ready for fitting. The used ticket boxes are nearly completed, but there are also some other smaller items to refurbish. The seat bases will be sent away soon for grit blasting and coating.

The truck has been moved into the engine shed having been lifted straight onto a bogie flat and not moved on its own wheels.

The decorative boarding will cover the open ventilation spaces, so really do have a worth in life.
The hexagonal dash cars had opening glass fanlight's, so did not have them.

On the 9th July 2015, there was a bit of shuffling around in the carriage works and so 488 was out for a short time. Here we have some pictures taken by Norman Bond showing the lower deck basking in the North Wales sunshine.
